At the Copenhagen Center of Functional Medicine (CCFM), we take your data protection seriously. We process your personal data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Danish Data Protection Act, and the regulations of the Danish Patient Safety Authority.

Purpose of the processing

  • Provide health care counseling and treatment
  • Comply with legal requirements, including record-keeping and retention obligations
  • Improve the quality of our treatment services
  • Communicate with you about your treatment plan and appointments

What information do we process?

  • General personal information: Name, address, email address, phone number, Social Security number
  • Sensitive personal data: Health information, medical history, test results, symptoms, treatment plans
  • Technical information: IP address, cookies, browser data

Legal basis

We process your information based on:

  • GDPR Article 6(1)(b) and (c) (contractual basis and legal obligation)
  • GDPR Article 9(2)(h) (health data in the context of healthcare services)
  • The Health Act (Record-keeping and Retention)

When processing data for purposes such as research, marketing, or statistics that are not required by law, separate consent must be obtained.

Storage and deletion

Medical records and health information are retained for at least 10 years after the last contact, in accordance with the Executive Order on Medical Records. Other information is deleted on an ongoing basis when it is no longer necessary for the intended purpose.

Disclosure and Data Processors

Your data will be treated confidentially. We will only disclose information to third parties if it is necessary and required by law—or with your consent.

We use external data processors (e.g., IT systems, hosting providers) and have data processing agreements with them in accordance with the GDPR.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Gain insights into your data
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Object to or restrict certain processing activities
  • Have your data transferred (data portability)
  • Withdraw consent at any time

Safety

We have implemented both technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including access controls, encryption, and secure record-keeping.
